Welcome swimmers,
coaches and parents who will be attending the Grand Junction
Dolphins Snowflake Swim Meet being held at the NEW El Pomar
Natatorium. The Grand Junction Dolphin Swim Team would like to
congratulate Mesa State College President Tim Foster, the Board of
Trustees and the College’s Administration on this great
facility and we look forward calling this our home for many years
to come. This is one of the premier venues to host a swim meet in
the state of Colorado and we hope everyone has the time to not only
check out the Natatorium and Recreation Center, but also explore
all of the other upgrades that are happening at Mesa State
College.
Like anyone who has just
completed construction of a new home, Mesa State College has a few
guidelines they would like us to follow at the Snowflake Swim Meet.
The Grand Junction Dolphins Swim Team wants to thank you in advance
for cooperation.
ON THE POOL DECK, only
swimmers, coaches, officials and swim meet workers will be allowed.
Parents will need to drop their swimmers off at the doors to pool
deck and then go to the upstairs gallery area to cheer on their
kids. All people who will be on the pool deck must be bare foot or
change into non street shoes, something like deck shoes, crocs,
etc. Please plan accordingly if you are volunteering at the meet in
any capacity. This includes swimmers, coaches, official’s,
meet workers, timers, counters, runners and anyone else who might
have to come on the pool deck. The only food or beverage that is
allowed on the pool deck will be bottled water. Anyone who is on
the pool deck and wants to eat or drink something other than
bottled water can go outside the pool deck area to eat or drink
what they want. There will be a limited number of chairs provided
by Mesa State College on the pool deck for swimmer and coach use.
Swimmers can lounge on the pool deck where space is available
between races, but cannot bring in any of their own chairs, coolers
or other "camping gear".
IN THE UPSTAIRS GALLERY AREA,
parents, spectators and swimmers can set up their own chairs, as
long as they are not obstructing someone else’s view or
blocking an aisle. Any type of food or beverage is fine in the
upstairs gallery area, but we would ask that everyone police their
own trash throughout the day.
AROUND THE REST OF THE
RECREATION CENTER, it will be business as usual for Mesa State
College students. Please do not set up any chairs that block
hallways or entrances to other parts of the Recreation Center. We
will have a room next to the smoothie bar that will have swim
apparel for sale. The Dolphins will be providing hospitality for
meet officials and workers in the next room down the
hall.
We will not be operating a
concessions stand, so feel free to bring in what you need to eat
for the day.
The Grand Junction Dolphins
Swim Team is excited beyond belief about our new home. We hope you
find it as AMAZING as we do. Thank you for attending our Snowflake
Swim Meet and we look forward to seeing you all back here for the
West Slope Winter Champs next month.
Sincerely,
Lee Young
