Grand Junction Dolphin Team Structure
Groups are divided by age and ability, there is some overlap between the group above and below in ability skill, and knowledge. Coaches make group changes between seasons, once between Short Course in March and again in August at the end of Long Course.
Age group Swimmers move through series of progressions from learning skills
To learning to train
To learning to race
To learning to win
Our competitive program is designed to promote these progressions. The cornerstone of our program faces the longest freestyles and IMs. These two races embody all of the emphasized points/progressions noted above.
Swimmers are expected to commit to:
Self Improvement Group Improvement Team Building
USA Swimming, Inc/Colorado Swimming, Inc Memberships
All swimmers need to join USA Swimming, Inc along with Colorado Swimming, Inc. A joint membership to the organizations is a combined $56 per year, Sept to Dec of the following year. The Season One memberships cover April thru Aug for the current year at $31 for new swimmers starting in the spring to cover them until Sept.
Memberships provide swimmers being entered in a National data base qualifying them for completions, camps, and meets. The athlete will receive mailings of “Splash” magazine as well as special events, through email blasts. This is also a secondary insurance for practice and swim meets. It does not cover diving boards; therefore we will not be using the boards for “fun”.
